PSI

The Paul Scherrer Institute, PSI, is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. PSI performs world-class research in three main subject areas: Matter and Material; Energy and the Environment; and Human Health. By conducting fundamental and applied research, PSI works on long-term solutions for major challenges facing society, industry and science.

Key Personnel

Dr. Stephane Sanfilippo (M). Stéphane Sanfilippo earned a Ph.D. in Physic at the “Université Joseph Fourier de Grenoble”. After his Ph.D., he worked at CERN on the LHC project during 10 years. He was responsible of the magnetic characterizations of the LHC magnets at cold. In 2008, he joined the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI), the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. He is leading the magnet section, responsible for the design, construction, procurement and tests of the magnets in the PSI projects. The section has also a large expertise in magnetic measurements and in magnetic system development. He is involved in international collaborations with CERN and ITER and leading the International Advisory Committee of the International Magnetic Measurement Workshop since 2015. Since August 2016, he is also deputy of the PSI department “Technical support, coordination and operation”.
